Window Dressing
Window dressings are not only essential to darken the room for sleeping but they are also a beautiful part of your room design. They frame the window and the view. Moreover layering your window dressings gives you greater versatility and control of light and insulation.
Practicality is the first layer. Get well fitted, ideally made to measure, black out blinds in nurseries and bedrooms as it will help your child learn when it’s sleep time. Ideally choose white or ivory as you don’t want black out blinds becoming a focal point. Make sure blind strings are well secured out of reach of little hands.
Don’t pander to your child’s latest fad. Avoid using kiddy patterned or themed curtains, frankly they might like superman or tractors now but it’ll be Bob the Builder and racing cars next month. It’s better to opt for something that will grow with them like simple plains, stripes or ginghams.
