Artwork
By keeping your nursery, bedroom or playroom backdrop simple, you can cheaply and easily change the look with artwork and accessories. Personal touches are what make any room special, stylish and unique. Be different.
Murals
Don’t even consider doing it yourself unless you are genuinely artistically gifted! Get a professional in.
Wall Stickers
Wall stickers are an inexpensive way to introduce a funky themed design into a nursery, bedroom or playroom. They’re versatile too. You can reposition them and reuse them to suit your child’s ever-changing tastes.
Canvas artwork
Buy ready made canvas artwork to match your theme or make it yourself. You don’t have to be a budding artist to have a go at this. E.g. if you have a nautical themed nursery or room wallpaper paste some navigational boat charts round a low cost plain canvas.
Wooden cut out letters
Get granddad or dad to cut large letters out of mdf. Paint the letters to match the room and mount the letters to spell out baby’s name or fun words. A cheap way to add a unique and personal touch to a room. E.g. if your room has a train theme, spell out ‘Choo Choo’
Keepsakes
The first years are a wondrous journey so why not preserve those special moments as artwork. Framing your child’s hand or footprints is unique. Box framing their first baby shoes, ballet slippers or football boots adds a personal touch. One day your child will be amazed to see how little he once was and touched that you deemed his achievements important enough to display.
Bunting
Bunting is a fun and fresh way to decorate the walls, hang around the top of the wall as a stylish alternative to a wallpaper border. You can easily take it down and use it downstairs or in the garden as party decoration.
Your child’s own artwork
Buy a few frames which are easy to re-assemble and hang your child’s art on the walls, it shows that you’re proud of their efforts and builds self esteem. Celebrate whatever it is that captures your child’s imagination.
Lights as decoration
Babies and children love lights. It’s a simple and effective way to decorate a baby or child’s room.
Memory wall
Framed photos of family, friends and events are a great way to encourage happy memories. The first toothless grin, chocolate cake covered faces, playing boo with granddad. Still photos capture these special moments and milestones perfectly and are a great talking point on a memory wall.
